Obama says yes to The Shed
Goldfish Love received a favorable 3.5/5 review in the new issue of HotPress magazine. (The one with Barack on the cover). For the record Here
it is: "Belle & Sebastian Jam with Lambchop at a Leadbelly Convention (Well Almost)
A six-piece collective with a strong visual sense, The Shed (picture Belle & Sebastian jamming with Lambchop at a Leadbelly
Convention and you're nearly there) have forged a deserved live reputation locally. With a multi-instrumentalist approach, and no less
than four vocalists/songwriters vying for space, the song styles shift from mellow indie ("Craven Walker") to gothic Country ("Goldfish Love")
and beyond. Apart from some unnecessarily long intros, the instrumental textures are never less than interesting with all manner of unexpected
sonic twists and turns along the way. The languid rhythm of "Tune for You", the chugging rockabilly shuffle of "Little Wonder", the whimsical
"Friends on MySpace" , and the more conventional indie-pop on "The Cliffs" are just some of the highlights. Meanwhile "Tears" comes across like
late-period Go-Betweens while "The Weatherman", a pastoral mid-tempo song, is another strong contender for standout track. The production is lush,
dynamic and cinematic - some of these songs wouldn't be out of place on a Cormac McCarthy soundtrack - and in the grand tradition of Cork rock,
there is a palpable sense of adventure shining throughout". - Colm O'Hare

All that Jazz: Live at The Roundy Friday Oct 22nd 2010 Greetings Shedheads
Hope you all had a really fine summer. We're back in the flesh on Friday October 22nd at The Roundy bar in Cornmarket Street.
We'll be playing tracks from 'Goldfish Love' along with a few oldies and, since we've always been partial to a bit of Jazz, maybe even something with a touch of swing about it. Nice!
By the way, The Roundy Bar is located in the oldest area of Cork and within one of the oldest buildings in Cork. The corner on which the Roundy
is situated was once part of a busy medieval market place and, at one point, was surrounded by artificial canals instead of laneways. Click
Here for more info on The Roundy. See you there @ 9pm.

Live at The Whisky Bar
Greeting Shedheads
Since we last spoke we survived a diluvian trip to the Cork Summer Show. The rain was torrential but despite the downpour vast numbers materialized to watch our performance. When you include the sound guy and the show jumping lady and her horse; and the show jumping judge and the car dealer eating cheese sandwiches in the Mercedes there were……lots. A big shout out to the driver of the slurry spreader who parked in front of the stage during the performance but kindly backed away in the end.
We’re back in the saddle this Friday evening July 25th at The Whisky bar Union Quay at 9.00pm (blunt). It won’t cost you an arm or a leg [8 yo-yos] unlike Admiral Nelson who on July 25th 1797 lost his arm in a fracas in Tenerife. Now that we’re on to the subject of history, Rory will be wearing a bikini to commemorate the day the first two-piece swimsuit was launched in Paris in 1946. Why not join him?
And you can also celebrate the day Dylan went “electric” at the Newport Festival in 1965. And it’s our most fragrant and neglectful band member's husband's birthday ? Oh yeah and it’s Friday!
How many more reasons do you want? See you there.

Live at The Whisky and Rosie's West End Bar
Greeting Shedheads,
According to the Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute more than 67 million people are affected by a fear of Friday the 13th. Some people are so paralyzed by fear they avoid their normal routines like doing business, taking flights or even getting out of bed. A recent study has shown that there is a significant increase in traffic-related accidents on Fridays the 13th. If you do manage to get out of your bed this Friday we recommend you take the day off, ditch the helicopter and later take a leisurely stroll or cycle to our recital in The Whisky [Union Quay, Cork Kick off 9ish]. Kirsty will be appearing as a black cat or a sort of pinkish one and we’ll be playing some new tunes. Don’t miss it! [Adm only 8 euros].
You'll find the Whisky at 3 Union Quay, Cork
The following Saturday June 21st is the Summer Solstice and we’ll be celebrating at a great venue: Rosie’s West End Bar in Lismore. The plan is to dress up as druids and build a giant shed to be lowered onto the stage during the finale. Ah yes Rock’n’roll. Don’t forget your robe and hood!
